Why Ursus Operations Group?

Quality

We seek out and hire low maintenance staff with the necessary skills, experience, aggressiveness, and self-motivation. Our staff immediately and positively impact the mission.

Experience

Our management team have over 17 years in the intelligence community supporting a range of programs to include all-source intelligence, counterterrorism analysis, operational support to Special Operations Forces (SOF) and support to overt collectors and clandestine case officers.

Program Execution

Our managers have received extensive training and possess significant experience in program management. We closely monitor staffing and financial forecasting. By scrutinizing utilization or “burn rate”, we ensure Estimate at Completion (EAC) does not exceed funding available.

Efficient

Because we are independently owned we can make business decisions rapidly without having to seek approval from any tribal governing body.

Precise Execution of The Fundamentals Under Stress.

Prior to forming Ursus Operations Group, on behalf of a top 5 global defense contractor our management team was responsible for profit/loss and execution of major programs supporting the intelligence community. Our managers ran complex programs consisting of over 15 subcontractor teammates, providing over 250 analysts and mission management personnel. Programs included armed and unarmed personnel deployed throughout the Middle East and Africa. When executing complex programs, our managers understand that capable first line leadership is crucial to executing a large program with multiple locations. Our senior management select first line leaders who have a bias for action and communication. These basic “blocking and tackling” fundamentals create managers who are empowered to identify problems and implement solutions, while actively communicating with Ursus senior management and the government customer.

BIG BUSINESS PEDIGREE TO SMALL BUSINESS,

ENSURING YOUR PROGRAMS ARE COMPLETED ON TIME AND ON BUDGET.

In a price competitive market, our managers have historically achieved and maintained greater than 90% staffing over a four-year Period of Performance (PoP) and no less than 94% utilization to include no notice contract modifications for surge staffing. These programs ranged from 30-40 analysts and operations support personnel, up to over 250 analysts, to include deployed locations. We ensure proper program execution and support to the mission.

Why trust a Native American, Veteran-Owned

Small Business with your mission?

Our managers have significant personal experience successfully executing both large and small staff augmentation programs on time and on budget. We have compiled our proven best practices and leverage our expertise to ensure Ursus programs are executed on par or above the expectations which would be set by a top 5 global defense contracting company. Our standards of monitoring and execution are large business, but we have agility and responsiveness of a small business. Unlike a large business, we cannot afford to ignore customer concerns or issues. Your mission success directly translates to our corporate success.

Among Native, Alaskan Native or Hawaiian-owned businesses, we bring two additional discriminators:

  1. Since we are not owned by a tribal government, we are able to make business decisions rapidly without having to seek approval by a tribal governing body.
  2. Many Native, Alaskan Native or Hawaiian-owned companies in the defense sector are owned by the appropriate entity, but lack executive leadership/C-Suite personnel who are connected with the community they represent. Managers within these companies are often composed entirely of non-native/Alaskan/Hawaiian’s who have no real connection to the community beyond what is listed on their webpage or slick sheet. Ursus is solely owned and day-to-day operations are run by an enrolled, federally recognized Native American veteran.

Ursus Operations is owned and operated by an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. Our CEO/President not only grew up on “the Rez”, but maintains a connection with his tribe.

Why add Ursus as a subcontractor teammate?

Having managed large tasks with multiple subcontractors, we recognize and understand the attributes of a good small business partner supporting a Prime. Our managers ensure the Ursus workforce is low maintenance and high impact. We ensure invoices and ODC expenditures are carefully tracked and submitted in a timely fashion, ensuring no lagging costs. We actively communicate with Prime regarding personnel movement or customer interaction which would be of interest to the Prime.
